    5) I couldn’t find any consequences the scientists faced in the video. Sorry.

    Questions not from the video:

    1) I think that “European thinkers challenged conventional thought based on traditional authority and mysticism” means that European thinkers didn’t believe in doing things because it’s custom or religious. I think they wanted to find the truth of things and to show people that you should not do this because “God” said you should. They wanted to know the truth.
    2) Religious institutions would be opposed to the new ideas of scientists because those scientists are trying to figure out the truth and they want to do things because they want to, not because it’s custom or God told them to. And if the scientists somehow proved that all of that is wrong and not necessary, then there will be less people being religious and that would suck for the religious institutions.

    1) In my opinion, “European thinkers challenged conventional thought based on traditional authority and mysticism” means that, they challenged themselves and their thoughts and ideas for what they believed in and not because of their religion/churches thought as well as other people other than themselves.
    2) Religious institutions would oppose to scientists and their new ideas because it might be against the religion/church they believe in. Maybe also because their ideas can be dangerous to the society and cause them problems. Arguments could happen because others might not agree to the scientists ideas and the scientists might go against other scientists ideas as well.
